The age-old weaving technique called Jamdani is used to weave these wonderful sarees, it's understood that the technique of jamdani weaving was passed on from "West Bengal" to Uppada. The word Jamdani is of Persian origin, the word 'Jam' means 'flower' and 'dani' means a vase, thus named after decorative floral patterns. Jamdanis are popularly known as 'Dhakai Jamdani' or simply 'Dhakai', jamdani has fabulously rich motifs, common patterns found in Jamdani are geometric patterns and nature inspired like floral designs. These graceful handloom Uppada sarees are soft, light weight it weighs around 600 grams(approx), translucent, comfortable, and elegant to wear, also they suite to all the climates. Rich looking Uppada saree is a preferred choice of today’s women during occasions of weddings, festivals and formal gatherings. Uppada Jamdani saree weaving takes nearly ten to sixty days time for which at least two to three weavers has to spend 10 hours of their day, it's a lot dedication and passion is required to weave these masterpiece, these sarees are available in cotton and silk.
