Khadi is also known as khaddar, it is Handwoven natural fiber cloth, this cloth is usually woven from cotton and may also include wool, silk, which are all spun into yarn on a spinning wheel called charkha. This fine spun khadi is known for softness, when one starts to wear this saree definitely will be hooked on this fabric, no matter its summer or spring, Khadi is not only used as fashion statement these days but are often seen as markers of particular communities, groups and towns.

Previously Khadi was dyed in earthy color tones and was used to make traditional garments and many fall in love with khadi for different reasons. Khadi is a versatile fabric which is cool in summer and warm in winter. This natural fiber is robust, breathable, superior in texture and softness, It is done on pit looms or frame looms.

Fabric care/Maintainence for Khadi Handwoven cotton saree
Do check out for specific care instructions on the garment tag once you purchase and follow the instructions carefully, it addition to it, here are certain guidelines

  • Suggested for dry cleaning
  • Other option one can hand wash in cold water separately with mild detergent and never use chemical bleach
  • Do not squeeze or wring the fabric
  • Dry the fabric in a shade to avoid direct sun may cause color fabric to fade
  • This fabric has to be starched to prevent it from crumbling
  • Slight shrinkage can happen after wash of this fabric
  • Store these earthy fabrics in dry place and keep away from insects, excessive light and moisture
  • Iron these fabrics in medium-low heat

Colorfully yarns woven on a handloom by the weavers of Tamil Nadu, this sarees hails from the temple city 'Kanchipuram', well Known and called by many names Kanchi, Kanjivaram, Kanjeevaram and Conjevaram. Kancheepuram district is situated on the north east coast of Tamil Nadu. Kanchi cottons are distinguished by beautiful motifs woven, handwoven sarees are soft, airy and yet comfortable. Silk and cotton sarees of Kanchipuram are inspired by the temple designs.

Years passed by, the town gained popularity for its excellent handloom sarees known for the softness and durability. The name Chirala means Saree in Telugu and so eventually the name of the town got transformed to Chirala. Main occupation of this village is handloom weaving and paddy cultivation.

Blue Blue Blue oh my crazy blue tints I can say this is a simplistic weave from Udupi handloom cotton saree, down to earth, simplistic weave, traditionally woven checkered no designs no motifs what a way to drape this saree for a humid climate and look rustic, I fell in love with this beauty at a first look.

I never heard of Patteda Anchu Saree before
Well, many of them are not aware of this weave in the same state, it's an irony. Lack of awareness and less usage leads to this stage. It was in the year 2016 I first saw the Patteda Anchu Saree and I was very impressed at the first glance, for its simplicity and minimalistic weave, no woven designs these characteristics caught my attention towards this weave. Being and brought up in Karnataka, I was just familiar with Ilkal Saree, Molakalmuru Saree, KSIC Mysore Silk, Banahatti Saree, Hubli Saree because my mother had these magnificent weaves, and she wore them very often. When I told her about Patteda Anchu Saree, she was astonished and happy to shop one...

I am huge fan of Banjara jewelry which are antique yet collectables, their most flamboyant and mind-blowing costumes one goes crazy and highly appreciated, they still follow the rich and age old traditional art forms, which are been reflected in their art work, especially hand embroidery requires lot of time and patience and its laborious. These tribes speak Lamani language/Goar-boali it is also called as Banjari language. The irresistible Handloom saree, that drapes like a dream
Indian textiles are rich in artifacts, Begampur is a small town in Hooghly district in West Bengal, the sarees woven here carries deep and bright colours. The economy of this place depends on textiles and also famous for dhotis. What reminds everyone when you say Bengal is handwoven cotton sarees and is the center for fine cotton weaving and these Begampuri cotton sarees are known for loosely woven light-weight and translucent and are extremely comfortable to drape. These cotton beauties would take one to two days to weave which are very simple ones and more intricate designs could even take five to six days to complete, although the saree fabric named after the city, the subtle madness look after wearing them is absolutely sophisticated.
